Bloggingheads.tv – Video blog on Politics, Philosophy, & Science

The Bloggingheads.tv website is a video blog discussion site in which the participants take part in an active back and forth conversation via webcam which is then broadcast online to viewers. The Bloggingheads.tv name was taken from the term “blog” and “pundit”, or someone who gives an uninformed opinion on things they do not fully understand.

It was created in 2005 by Mickey Kaus, political journalist and blogger for the Daily Caller, to root out this problem of uninformed opinions being given as though they were founded in fact.

Of course, Bloggingheads.tv was not the first to give people a platform upon which their ideas could be tested. Socrates, the Greek philosopher who lived from 470 BC to 399 BC, was perhaps history’s first Bloggingheads.tv user. It is believed that Socrates used himself as a guinea pig of sorts for his ideas and would take them out to sea with him where he could contemplate their merits without having anyone in his immediate area to hear what he was saying.

The BHTV’s users are not quite so secluded, but their ideas are still given a chance to breathe rather than being immediately thrown out with the bathwater because they sounded dumb when put into words. It is an excellent philosophy learning tool where people can test their ideas and see what others think about them.

Mickey Kaus still owns Bloggingheads.tv today, and they have a stable of regulars who have been participating in the discussion for years now. One such regular is Robert Wright, author of “Nonzero: The Moral Animal”, as well as several other books that discuss human behavior from an evolutionary psychology perspective. It also has many other regular users, which include prominent bloggers and journalists.

The BHTV is an excellent place to get the opinion of people who actually know what they are talking about on issues ranging from political science to biology, physics, literary theory, business strategy, economics, legal philosophy and more that I don’t even have room to list here.

You can access Bloggingheads.tv on either their website or by downloading the app onto your device of choice, be it a smartphone/tablet, computer, etc. It also has an iOS app which you can download for free, making it even easier to find time in your day to discuss important matters with the Bloggingheads.tv regulars!

Check out Bloggingheads.tv today and see how informative it can be! You might find that you learn something new there, or gain a perspective you had not considered before. It is an excellent place for anyone – from high school freshmen to university professors – to have a discussion with individuals who have the knowledge and understanding of their respective fields to draw from. It is an excellent way to learn, as well as a source of interesting conversation that can be fascinating or entertaining depending on the topic being discussed.
